ARCHIVES Volume XI-II December 8. 1082 PTK INITIATION Saturday, December 11, 1982, Phi Theta Kappa will be holding their quarterly initiation ceremony for new members. 45 students will be induct-ed into the honor society. They arei Roy Warren III, Richard Marsh, Bar-bara Rose, Shirley Maynard, Julie Strouse, Rachel Rock, Debbie Berg, Jane McAuley, Robert fiowden, Jr., Peggy Sliper, David Rounion, Richard Woodward, Merle Dewey, Betty Jarrell, Dallas Drisko, David Porowski, Claire Treppo, Kathryn Garden, Thomas Clif-ford, Beverly Fraser, Joyce Caudill, Alice Craig, Shirley Hyle, Mary Seiner, Delwin Croom, Jr., Robert Prine, Randy Monroe, Joseph Canonico, Debra Waida, Sherri Sanchez, Teresa Burns, Lisa Jones, Susan McGee, Val-erie Meek, Kim Russell, Scott Hinson, Mike Machle, Mary Erwin, Nanette Grindstaff, Mike Cunneen, Ken Staggs, Pamela Staggs, Martin Goergen, Wei Anderson, and Arlyene Lusk. At the same time, Joyce Freeman will be installed as president, Joanne Gayhead as vice-president, and Camella Everest as secretary. SVA OFFICERS ELECTED E. Randall Silvers was elected to be the president of the Student Veterans' Association. Other officers include Willie Iyde as vice-president, Wayne Berry as 2nd vice-president, Don Moore as adjutant, and Mary Moltere as finance CNC POLICY EXPLAINED Are you aware of Christopher Newport College's policy on student discounts for TNCC students? Margaret Agee wasn't. She attended the per-formance of Antigone in November as an extra-credit assignment for her Humanities class. When she was asked to pay the full price, she showed her identification card from TNCC. She was then shown a sign that said CNC would not honor student identification cards from other colleges for the discount. Margaret informed the Nelsonite. and a reporter checked out this policy at CNC. Mr. Dick Ryther, Assistant Director of CNC Campus Center, told the reporter that there seem, to be 3 different procedures pertaining to other-college discounts. Activities, such as plays, are continued on page 3 President Reagan has declared December 12-18 as National Drunk Driving and „ Drug Awareness Week. Each year drunk drivers cost this nation 2k billion dollars» according to insur-ance statistics. According to Virginia State Police statistics, out of the 1012 traffic fatalities in 1981, 32.were caused by drunk drivers.
