From the President ARCHIVES College-Wide Meeting Set for April 29 A college-wide meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 29, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Gators. Among the topics to be discussed will be next year's sal-ary plans, new facilities, renovation plans, parking, outcomes of the Virginia General Assembly, and the outlook for next year. All faculty, staff, and admin-istrators are encouraged to attend. Four and One-Half Day Work Week -1993 Beginning the week of May 17 and ending the week of August 16, the col-lege will observe a summer work schedule of 4 1/2 days per week. The 4 1/2- day schedule will consist of four 8.7 hour days (8 hours, 45 minutes) Monday through Thursday and five hours on Friday. The normal college summer office hours will be: • Monday-Thursday - 7:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m. (one-hour break for lunch) • Friday - 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Those offices that are normally open for service from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. will modify their service hours in the morning and afternoon (8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.). The library services will be open until 1 p.m. on Fridays. All other areas of service will operate as scheduled. The following core summer office hours (employees work a 40-hour week at the discretion of account managers) will be observed. • Monday-Thursday - 8 a.m.-5 p.m. • Friday - 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Two holidays (Memorial Day and Independence Day) will occur while the college is observing the summer work schedule. Since the state allows only eight hours of leave for holidays, the summer work week schedule will be ad-justed. On Friday, June 4, and Friday, July 9, all offices will remain open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. to compensate for the 45 minutes not covered by holiday leave on Memorial Day, May 31, and Independence Day, which will be ob-served on July 5. An employee who takes leave on June 4 or July 9 must submit a leave of absence form for 5.7 hours. The following Fridays are designated as 5-hour days (with the exception of June 4 and July 9): May 21 July 9 (5.7) May 28 July 16 June 4 (5.7) July 23 June 11 July 30 June 18 Aug. 6 June 25 Aug. 13 July 2 Supervisors may approve flex time in accordance with Policy 3.12 of the Administrative Procedures Manual. If you have questions, please contact the Personnel Office.
